Sweet Melissa Sundays: Guiness Gingerbread

**Bad news friends. I had a busy, busy week, and before I could take a picture of the gingerbread, it was all gone! But what’s a post without photos, so I’ve included a random pictorial tour of my backyard. Enjoy!**

Our recipe this week was chosen by Katie of Katiecakes. You can find the full recipe on her blog here. And you can find the lovely results of other SMS bakers on the blogroll.

This recipe gave me a reason to be glad that it is still rainy and cold this far into the year! In the interest of full disclosure I should tell you that I’m not a beer-drinker and I’m not a die-hard gingerbread fan. So neither part of the recipe’s title seemed enticing. That being said, however, I thought this was a very tasty recipe, certainly miles better than gingerbread made from a box mix. I plan on dog-earring its page in the cookbook and making it again during the holidays. And I have 90% of a huge bottle of Guiness in my fridge if anyone wants to come and get it!

  1. Gret pictures. I’m not a big fan of gingerbread either, I like it, it’s usually not worth the calories when I could have something chocolaty instead, but I did enjoy this recipe.

  2. Your yard looks lovely! So many pretty plants. I’m not usually a big fan of gingerbread, but I thought the mellow flavors in this one were great!

  3. I’ll be right over for the Guinness! Beautiful pictures of your garden, my veggis are really starting to take off. Glad you tried the recipe, even though it had ingredients you didn’t care for, you just never know.

  4. Sorry that I’ve been an absent commenter; I just finished up my law school exams and am finally getting around to my google reader. I’m glad that the gingerbread was a pleasant surprise for you!! I love a good gingerbread, and I know my boyfriend Todd would love to come get those extra Guinnesses from your fridge 🙂

  5. WoW! Beautiful pictures of your garden and trees. Not a weed to be seen! You found a gingerbread you enjoyed…that is wonderful! I liked it too but I also wanted to add a bit more ginger. The spiced pearsauce sounds yummy and you would have had a hit combining the two. Now you will just have to bake more.
