In My Kitchen | Catherine McCord of Weelicious

“Ever since I had my son, Kenya, it has been my mission to raise my kids to be great eaters. One of the best ways of doing that it by getting the kids cooking with me in the kitchen. We go to the farmer’s market every Sunday as a family and I let my son and daughter pick out tons of fruits and veggies to take home and cook up. We have fun in the kitchen together making sweet treats, as well. Pear Pistachio Crisp is one of our favorite things to make together in the fall. Serve it warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream for a special and seasonal dessert!”

Catherine McCord, creator of the popular family food blog, Weelicious, is mother to two children, Kenya and Chloe. She’s also the best-selling author of two cookbooks, Weelicious and Weelicious Lunches. When her oldest was ready to start solid foods as a tot, she spent hours on the internet researching feeding tips and fresh, healthy recipe ideas, but came up short. She found herself having conversations with friends who struggled with the same issues, and she quickly became their go-to girl for baby and child-friendly recipes. She believed that if it helped them, then there just might be a lot of new moms out there looking for the same guidance. That was her “aha!” moment…and her next baby, weelicious.com, was born.

I met Catherine at a Better Homes & Gardens event earlier this Fall, and she is just as lovely and gracious as you would think! I’m inspired by both her success and her friendly, down-to-earth personality.
