Scandinavian Gatherings is Here!

Scandinavian Gatherings: From Afternoon Fika to Midsummer Feast: 70 Simple Recipes & Crafts for Everyday Celebrations | Available Now!

Today is the big day! Scandinavian Gatherings is officially available! I’ve already started seeing pictures from people who have gotten their copy in the mail, and it makes me so happy to see how much everyone loves the book. At the book signing I went to outside of Boston last weekend, so many people commented on how beautiful the book is. And I can only agree whole-heartedly, and give all the credit to the army of people who styled and shot the photos, worked on the artwork, chose fonts and layouts, and countless other tasks that resulted in such a gorgeous book: artists Andrea Smith and Kat Marshello, stylists Shannon Douglas and Renee Beaudoin, photographer Charity Burggraaf, and production editor Em Gale at Sasquatch Books.

There are lots of book events coming up in the next few weeks, with even more in the works between now and the holidays. I’d love to see all of you there! Events for September and October will be taking place in Manhattan (tomorrow!), Portland (10/8), Eugene (10/12), and Seattle (10/13-14). You can find more details and an up-to-date list of Scandinavian Gatherings events on THIS POST.

If you post a picture of your book or one of the recipes or projects from the book on Instagram or Facebook, be sure to tag me @luluthebaker and use the hashtag #ScandinavianGatherings. I’d love to follow along! And if you still haven’t bought a copy, you can buy one online at any of the websites listed HERE.

  1. I love the book! The recipes look wonderful and I have to admit that the simple graphic craft projects have drawn me in! The recipes are designed around a celebration or theme and each one has several simple craft projects to make to decorate. Can’t wait to get started!

    1. Carla, I’m so glad you like the book! I tried to make the recipes and projects aspirational but approachable, so it makes me happy to hear that they look like projects you’d love to try out! Tack sa mycket!

  2. This makes my kibun tingle. I can’t wait to get our copy. Congratulations! We’re very excited for you. We’d love for you to do a book signing in Las Vegas, so we can get the signature of a famous author and chef.

    1. Aaron, your comment made me laugh and laugh! Thanks for the congrats, and I’m working on adding more book tour stops. I’ll definitely let you guys know when I get a Las Vegas event set up; I’d love to see you!

  3. Oh Melissa you are too sweet- thank you so much for including me in the post- you are a total sweet pea!

  4. I just bought your book and I love it! Cannot wait to try some recipes, especially the braided cardamom bread. My husband’s mother makes a special cardamom cake every year for Christmas. She calls it yulekagga (spelling?), she learned to make it from her Norwegian mother-in-law. It is topped with candied fruit and white icing. I have not been able to find a recipe quite like it yet. Hopefully yours will be the one.

    1. I’m so happy that you love it, Shelly! I hope the cardamom bread is just what you’ve been looking for, but if not, it is still delicious!

  5. I know I’m a year late, but I just stumbled on your book at my local library, and my Irish self is head-over-heels in love with this book! I’m already planning a Scandinavian Christmas. May I ask, is that your home featured in the book? I love the white room pictured on the St. Lucia Day chapter, and I’m hoping to match that shade of white. It’s perfect!

    1. Hi Mary Ann! I’m so happy that you love the book!! It is not my home featured in the photography. If I find out from the owner what color the walls are, I will be sure to let you know!
