May Favorites {Give-Away}, Cinco de Mayo edition

Without too much ado, some favorites with a little fiesta flare for the holiday weekend…

1.  favorite way to give your arm a rest:  Campeon Lime Juicer
I love the flavor of limes in marinades, salads, baked goods, and beverages, but juicing a bunch of tiny limes with a classic citrus juicer (the kind where you twist the fruit) gives me arm cramps! This cool juicer is a breeze to use, and it gets every last drop of juice out of those limes {image from Amazon.com}

2.  favorite legit Cinco de Mayo decoration:  Papel Picado
For our Dora Party fiesta in March, I ordered two strands of these adorable, brightly colored, traditional cut paper banners from Casa Bonampak.  And they’re still hanging in my kitchen over a month later because I love them so much.  If you want some for Cinco de Mayo, you won’t have time to order any online, but check your local mercado; they might stock them. {image from [fotogramAtico]}

3.  favorite south-of-the-border wall art:  Mexican Matryoshka print by Amy Perrotti
I’ve been a big fan of Amy Perrotti’s Cultural Matryoshka art series for a while now, but I can’t make up my mind on which adorable print to buy. Every girl is so unique, so colorful and cute. Maybe I’ll have to buy one of each! {image from AmyPerrotti on Etsy}

4.  favorite homemade mexican food that I wish I could eat every day:  Corn, Cheese, and Green Chile Tamales
My friend Tannya brought me a whole gallon-sized ziplock bag full of her yummy, homemade tamales a few years ago when we brought a new baby home from the hospital.  If memory serves, I ate several at lunch and dinner every day until they were gone, and I’m positive I did not share them with anyone!

5.  favorite way to waste a few minutes on the internet:  88 Nights of Cinco de Mayo
My brother and his friends decided to eat their way through the entire 88-item menu at their local mexican restaurant, Cinco de Mayo.  And they decided to film it.  Every time I hear that theme song, I have to smile! {image from 88nights.com}

  1. just wanted to say, I live close to Monterey and know how sweet Cannery row is! There are so many places to eat and drink and each one is unique. Its fun to know we have shared that experience. Also, I have made these lime meltaways……….and they are delectable and refreshing, hope others try them. So with or without the lime juicer, I will make these again. thanks
