Have you ever had Magic Cookie Bars? You might call them by another name, but I promise you’ve eaten them before. Chocolate chips, chopped pecans, and shredded coconut on a sweet, buttery graham cracker crust. They’re a favorite in my family because they’re delicious and easy to make, using mostly pantry staples you probably have on hand. This Sawdust Pie is like the fancy, Thanksgiving version of those tasty bake sale treats. It’s a really simple pie to make, which is always helpful on Thanksgiving, and it tastes heavenly. Instead of a graham cracker crust, it has a regular pastry crust. The graham crackers jump into the filling with the chocolate, nuts, and coconut, and a topping of sliced bananas and whipped cream right before serving take this pie over the edge. Served room temperature, it’s great, and served warm, it’s rich and decadent. If you’re looking for something new to add to your Thanksgiving dessert menu, give Sawdust Pie a try! You can find the recipe on my latest post for Julep.
