In My Kitchen with Alexandra Hedin

I believe that everyday is a reason to celebrate. After all, we’re healthy, we’re happy, we’re here–if that isn’t reason to celebrate, then I don’t know what is. I want our lives to be filled with love and with fun so we make every day a party with inexpensive additions. We put cocktail umbrellas in our milk glasses at dinner; we put sprinkles on pancakes in the morning; party hats are almost mandatory when my daughter is around. Life is a party–why not celebrate daily?

Alexandra Hedin grew up in the noisy kitchen of a home economics teacher helping to feed a large extended family for holidays and regular weekends together. She still spends her free time cooking and baking for her husband and three {very} young children.

Alexandra is a party girl, cooking and crafting out of a renovated fire station in Seattle, Washington. Her simple approach to making everyday a reason to celebrate has made her an admired contributor to magazines and television. Alexandra’s book, Entertaining at Home, features 10 complete parties including inspiration, recipes, and crafts. She has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine,, Martha Stewart Radio, Design*Sponge, and on the Seattle affiliates of NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX. Her parties, recipes, and crafts can be found in every issue of 425 Magazine.

As luck would have it, this week’s Endless Summer Projects post comes from the lovely Alexandra! Just in time for tomorrow’s big celebration, she has a cute idea for bubble painting that would make a perfect banner for your 4th of July barbecue.

For next week’s installment, check Pars Caeli on Wednesday morning. Here are links to all of the projects we’ve had so far:
