Can you believe it’s already back-to-school time?! I’m always a little sad to see summer come to an end because I love having an easy schedule filled with fun activities (not to mention sleeping in!), but at the same time I always feel ready to get back to our regular school year routine.
As we get ready for a new school year, we are stocking up on school supplies, getting haircuts, and buying new long pants and shoes that don’t have the toes worn out. And best of all, we are filling our fridge and pantry with our favorite school lunch staples in the grocery section of Target. We all love shopping at Target because we can get everything on our list in one place.
For school lunches this year, we’re stocking up on lots of fresh fruits and veggies, Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing to dip the veggies in, sandwich makings and other main dish items. We’re getting all our favorite NABISCO snacks, like NUTTER BUTTER Bites, Mini CHIPS AHOY! Cookies, OREO Mini Cookies, TEDDY GRAHAMS Snacks, BARNUM’S Animals Crackers, and Mini NILLA Wafers. (Picking up the NABISCO Multipacks makes this so easy!) We’re buying drinks like Danimals Smoothies (my kids’ all-time favorite!) and Horizon Organic Single Serve Milk Boxes. We’ve got a brand new box of Glad MatchWare Food Storage Containers; the 3 1/8 cup size is perfect for holding sandwiches, and the 2 cup size is great for all those fruits and veggies. And I’m really excited about these new, individually wrapped Kleenex Wet Wipes I picked up at Target. They’re soft and gentle, so they’re perfect for cleaning little hands and faces. I’m going to put one in each lunch and also keep a little stash of them in the car and in my purse. I also drop small icepacks in the lunchboxes to keep the food cold!
I created a cute printable lunch packing list to help my kids and I decide on what to pack for lunch each day, and I’m sharing it with you! I love getting my kids’ input on what’s going in their lunches, and when they get to have a say in what they’re eating, they do a much better job of finishing their lunch. At the same time, I want to make sure they’re making good choices and eating a balance of foods. This printable helps with that. They can see the different categories and how many items they get to choose from each. CLICK HERE to see the free lunch packing list, then download and print!
In addition to the free printable, I wanted to share a couple of yummy lunch “recipes” with you that my kids really like, featuring some of our school lunch favorites.
