Believe it or not, I’d never eaten pecan pie until I made these little minis a few weeks ago. It has certainly been available to me before. I’m pretty sure that my father in-law makes it every Thanksgiving, which means that I’m around pecan pie at least once every other year, and I know other people go crazy for it. I can’t remember my mom ever making it, so maybe it boils down to the kind of thing where you don’t grow up eating a food, so it just never quite makes it onto your radar. Anyhow, a few months ago, I started thinking I might just give this pecan pie thing a whirl and see what all the fuss is about, see if it lives up to the hype. Since everything is better when it’s bite-sized, I made mini pies. And a little chocolate never hurts, so I tossed some mini chocolate chips in there too. And after eating a couple (ok, more like a dozen) or so of these two-bite beauties, I have to say that I’m a fan! I love the crunchy, toasty little bits of pecan, the rich chocolate, and the gooey brown sugar filling. They are super easy to make, and they look fun and cute on a Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving dessert table. Make a batch next week and you’ll be hit of Thursday’s dinner!

Love this! My mom made these when I was younger, but the addition of the chocolate chips sounds awesome! I do a lot of cool stuff with my mini muffin tins (goat cheese pesto tarts are my fave!), so thanks for the inspiration. Read about you in O Magazine and am excited to check out your blog (plus we might be moving to Oregon). Cheers!
Hi Molly! Mini muffins tins are super useful, aren’t they!
Love them! Want to graduate to the maxi muffin tin soon. Cheers.
