Another dear friend is having a baby soon, and I was the lucky girl who got to make the favors for her baby shower last weekend. The invitations were sweet, lacy, and ladylike, and I wanted the favors to be all of those things too. The mama-to-be loves chocolate-covered cinnamon bears (she actually introduced me to them, for which I am eternally grateful!), so it seemed perfect to fill these sweet bags with her favorite treat.
I’m a little in love with how they turned out, and happen to think they looked especially cute all lined up in prim and proper rows. Want to make some of your own? Here’s how!
I ran my bags through the printer. If you’d rather not, you can write directly on the bags, stamp a message on them, or put a cute tag on them. If you plan to send yours through the printer, start with step 1. Otherwise, skip down to step 4!
So Sweet Favor Bags
These sweet, doily-topped favor bags are perfect for birthday parties and baby showers. They only take a few minutes to assemble!
Materials
Tools
- hole punch
- printer, optional
- paper cutter, optional
Instructions
- Tape the top of your bags shut. Make sure the tape goes all the way across so there aren't any exposed pieces of bag to snag in your printer.
- Load the bags into your printer the same way you would paper, and print! Of course you have to have something to print; I just used a plain old Word document and formatted it to be the same size as my bag.
- Don't try to pick the tape off the bags--it'll never work! Just cut the tape off using a paper trimmer. I trimmed 1" off of each bag.
- Fill the bags with treats, close them, and fold down the top 1".
- Fold the doilies in half. Based on how you orient the doilies when you fold them, they will have slightly different widths, so do one first, make sure it is the same width as you bags, then fold the rest the same way.
- Take a closed bag, place a folded doily over it, line up the edges, and hold them firmly in place.
- Use a single hole punch to make two holes about 1/2" apart. Make sure to punch through all layers.
- Cut your ribbon into lengths of about 6 inches. I chose to do two shades of pink per bag.
- Thread both ribbons through the two holes and tie a knot on the front of the bag. Trim excess ribbon.
I lined all of my sweet little bags up on a very inexpensive wooden tray from Michael’s, and they looked especially adorable and demure!
I LOVE these. I think even someone craft-challenged like me could handle it 😉
Hi Trish! They were seriously so easy–the trickiest part was printing on them, and you don’t even have to do that!
You COULD just have a stamp made up!
I know! But I basically do everything in my life at the last possible minute, lol. A stamp would be a great idea, and would definitely make it easy to make lots and lots of these favors.
how ADORABLE!!! And you’re right — it doesn’t look that difficult! Great job and I bet everyone at the shower loved them!
Hi Alyssa! They are really, really easy, especially if you do everything assembly-line-style.
These are so cute. simple and elegant. Love ’em 🙂
Thank you Marla!
These are darling! I’m pinning to keep in mind for my daughter’s BD party when the time comes 🙂
Hi Sandi. I think the great thing about these is that you can use different colors of ribbon and put different treats inside to make the perfect for any kind of party! And of course the sweets inside are a good thing about them, lol.
Excellent favor gift bags with good design.

Hi do you sell these? And if not would you be interested in making to sell ..? These are amazing !! X
Hello Nikki! Nope, I don’t make them to sell. You can make them yourself with just a few materials and a few minutes. Good luck!
Hi! I’m doing these for my sister in law’s baby shower. Do you remember the Word formatting settings for the bag? Mine is printing in the middle of the bag and I’m not sure how to go about fixing this. Thank you!
Hi Shannan. I don’t remember the exact settings, but make sure you adjust the paper size settings to match the dimensions of the bags. Good luck!
Hello
I am having trouble printing these on a bag – is there anything special you have to do to load them into your printer?
Hi Victoria. I had to load them one at a time and make sure they fed into the machine right. Anytime I print on anything other than standard-sized paper, I do that anyway to make sure everything is loading properly.
I love the brown bags with doilies… I love anything with doilies!! I did something similar for all my birthday presents last year. Thank you for sharing this great idea.
Hi! I am making these as souvenirs for the hospital when I deliver my baby girl. Do you by any chance remember what font you used?
Thanks!
I don’t remember, Christina! So sorry. Just anything cute that you love will work beautifully!
I plan to make these for Mother’s Day for the ladies in our church. These are so cute! Thank you for the excellent idea! Love it!
Thanks, June!
I love using clear label paper in my printer. You can get it in single letter sized sheets or label sized. Using that paper eliminates the need to run the bags through the printer, but give the same effect.
Great idea!
Hi thank you for lovely idea! I’m using them to put jar candles in for give away prizes at our baby shower! I’m doing 40 of them and they will display beautifully before given away!!!
How fun!
This may be a silly question, but how did you get it to print pink?
Hi Sandy! I just made the text pink in my word processing program. Good luck!
Never mind I got it to work YAY!!
Hi i would like to order these… i live New York
Hi Reina! I’m sorry, but I don’t do orders for these. They are a really easy project though, and if you follow the steps in the instructions, you can get them made really quickly. Best of luck!
Love the idea and I was wondering where did u get the doilies or where can I find them
Hi Grace! I got them from Michaels. You can also buy them online. Good luck!
These are so adorable. Thankyou. I will use this idea at Christmas to give to my luncheon friends.
Thanks, Mollie!
