My friend Anne posted something earlier this week on Instagram about Christmas being next week, and I was stunned. Next week! I am well aware of when Christmas is, but putting it into those words really shocked me. I have so much left to do! We have lots of big things crossed off our to-do list, but there are still dozens of little odds and ends that we need to take care of. We’re looking for a few last-minute gifts for cousins, sisters-in-law, stocking stuffers, etc. For those of you in that same boat, I’m happy to share with you that I’ve opened a little Etsy shop selling my book and some cute items that go with it. There’s a set of recipe cards featuring illustrations from Scandinavian Gatherings illustrator Andrea Smith, and a darling hard enamel toadstool pin. I’m leaving the shop open until Saturday night at midnight PST, and any orders between now and then will ship Priority Mail first thing Monday morning. And they’ll arrive in time for Christmas! You can order each item separately, or buy them together at a discount. You can even buy both items plus the book at a bargain price. Be sure to visit my shopĀ and get your order placed by Saturday night.
Dear Melissa,
I am Vivian Evans who works at the King’s English Bookshop in Salt Lake City. I realized after talking to you that you must have been referring to Lisa Allred Morey. She is a very dear friend of mine! I thought you might enjoy knowing I did a Scandinavian Christmas Eve like talked about with you. We had Sweedish Meatballs, roasted new potatoes, your Red Leaf Lettuce Salad with Raspberry-Citrus Vinaigrette and Sugared Almonds, Tante Kari’s Hot Almond-Citrus Punch, Rice Pudding with Raspberry sauce, gingersnaps, and almond cake. Every recipe was delicious, easy to follow and a huge hit.
After dinner we played a game where people remain around the table and toss two dice. Whenever someone rolls doubles they choose a prize from the basket or steal someone else’s. This was also a hit. We each had a small candle burning at our place setting and whoever’s candle burned out last got a prize. Of course, we had one almond in the rice pudding as well.
Thank you for terrific book you have put together. It is exactly what I needed to help bring our Scandinavian Heritage to life. I look forward to trying more recipes and crafts from your book.
Hi Vivian! It sounds like your Christmas was a blast! I’m so glad that you love my book and that it has inspired you. xoxo
I was given your book for Christmas. š I love it! I made the herb bread recipe in the book, except I converted it to sourdough only – no commercial yeast. It is the best bread! I’d love to share a photo of my loaves with you.
Hi Laurie! I’d love to see photos! You can email them to me at [email protected], or if you post them on social media, just tag me, @luluthebaker!
