Cookies seem to rule the roost during the holiday season, but Christmas cakes and candies are a nice change of pace. After all the cookie noshing, a beautiful and delicious cake is a welcome end to a holiday meal, and nothing stands out among the sea of cookie plates on your neighbors kitchen counter like a beautiful box of homemade candy! Below, I’ve gathered 20 of my favorite recipes for holiday cakes and non-cookie sweets. May your hearts be full of sweetness and peace this Christmas, and I’ll see you back here at the end of next week!
1. Fresh Cranberry Cake with Hot Butter Sauce from Lulu the Baker
8. Honey and Gingerbread Mini Bundt Cakes from Donna Hay, spotted on (and photo from) Mela e Cannella

Hello I failed miserably not one but 3 attempts at the toffee. The caramel never reached the golden brown and the texture is gritty. What did I do wrong? I even used a candy thermometer with one batch and cooked on the stove until it reached 305 (another toffee recipe instruction) Any help is much appreciated!
Hi! I’d love to help you out, but the recipe is Lexy’s from The Proper Pinwheel. If you email her or leave a comment on her toffee post, I’m sure she can answer any questions. She is super nice!
